Hey Friends! What is your favorite bathroom upgrade?
WaynaWorld I love the shelf. Where did you purchase it? I found your channel last night. I literally sat and watched all the videos. Thank you Wayna !
Honestly all of it. The book shelf and the wood grain on the cabinet really did it for me though. Beautiful updates.
You did the thang thang. Beautiful. I'm finishing up my spa bathroom. Live in a rental and the new owners renovated part of the apt and they gave us a vanity sink with doors. So happy. This is awesome..
I have something that will help with caulking. Find LOCTITE renew caulk. It’s in a tube and the applicator makes caulk a straight line for you. I CAULKED EVERYTHING even stuff that didn’t need it because of how perfect those lines were. Lowe’s just had it on clearance.
I used to have the same mold problem. Just keep your bathroom open after taking a shower. I don't have mold problems anymore.
Just a tip for people who keep cleaning bathroom mold but it justs comes back - once you're done cleaning it all with your cleaner of choice, let the bathroom dry and then put on some eye protection and a mask, spray every single surface of that bathroom with vinegar, (use a water mister for ironing or similar). Just cheap white vinegar works fine. Get inside all the drawers and into all the little corners and grooves around the taps etc. This kills stray spores and also causes mold to have trouble repopulating the same surfaces in the future. At first you might have to do it every 2 or 3 months but after a while the mold just doesn't come back at all.
Yeah but the root of the problem is lack of ventilation.
If you're renting, never take a space with a windowless bathroom that doesn't have a ventilation grid
Put on eye protection and a mask for all poisonous commercial products. Also if there’s mold behind that shower tile which is almost guaranteed, putting that grout on will create a disaster for the future. All the tile must be removed first and that’s on the landlord.
Vinegar would have done the job and although strong smell not as toxic
@@greyscalesx I came here to say this lol and they better get those walls inspected. Mold spores can be very very bad for your lungs and you won’t really notice the damage early enough. Stay safe and detox regularly! 🙂
Thanks
Finally, a bathroom upgrade for an ACTUAL small bathroom. You could do a waltz in some of the other "small bathrooms" in other youtube videos.
This bathroom is just like mines only thing is I have a shower instead.
Loll Sarita! You made me crack up at your comment 🤣 so true!
Yass!! I keep seeing small bathroom updates and I'm like that bathroom isn't small . Great tips on a real small bathroom and finally tips for renters 🤗👏🏾
😂😂😂😂😂 at waltz. So funny & accurate
Exactly!!!
Hello Wayna! New sub here. I was married almost 23 years then divorced. I've had to downsize to an incredibly small, dated and dreary apartment. All these things have gotten me so depressed.
I've never seen your videos before and one popped into my feed. You have completely lifted my spirits and have inspired me to do what I can to create a Sanctuary for myself. I'm not very handy but you're never too old to learn, right?
You are extremely resourceful, and have such an eye for aesthetcis and style. I am so so glad I found your channel. Thank you!!! 😊🙏
This warms my heart! Keep creating a life you love ❤️ you got this!
You go girl! Best of luck. You will be alright ❤️
Your on a new journey!! You got this!!
@@debbiebiteye1711 Thank you so much! I do have this! Us women can be so strong when faced with adversity-particularly if we reach out to other women. Bless you!!
@@beeiz5656 Thanks so much for the kind words 🙏 😊
They need to hire you to redecorate that entire apartment complex. I would love to see how you remove the wallpaper and tile floor when you move
Your landlord owes you a major discount on the rent.
Agreed!
Which is one reason why landlords don't want renters to "make improvements" to their property.
I will say, you are learning so much in the process which I think is fun!!! I see some house flipping in your future!!! 💰 💰💰
Can easily be removed
@@lavernepuller3080 Huuuuh usually landlords are meant to provide a professional cleaning service before you move in, there was nothing professionally cleaned about that bathroom before!
I'm apartment hunting and have been debating home much money I want to dedicate to rent. I have never been so inspired to move into an ugly apartment. I feel like I can make ANYTHING work and save money! You have a new subscriber. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
That’s the sprit!!!
same here! i am feeling hopeful
good luck on your search xo
Lol I've even changed light fixtures. A gorgeous light fixture will change a room. The cheap $10 lights can be put back up when I'm ready to love out.
Just make you have good management
@@numbernine3436 how do you know what light fixtures will fit & replace yours? Are there like universal ones or something? I once bought a small chandelier from ikea and it was awful, my dad said it needed to be drilled into the ceiling and can't just replace what I currently had at that time ☹
Everyone isn't meant to be a home owner or WANT to be. I appreciate your tutorials that work for renters too. You did an incredible job and I love your ideas! Great job. Thank you for creating this for all of us who rent. I can't wait to fix those horrible floors in my bathroom LOL!
I agree. Not everyone is in a position to become a home-buyer (they don't OWN until the mortgage is payed off) but we all want to enjoy the place we live in.
Agreed but I find this channel to also be a help to landlords as well. These tips & tricks can be used to keep their rentals up to date on trends without having to spend tens of thousands of $$$ every year, as well as not having to set high security deposits on their renters which is a win win for an honest landlord.
Your landlord should refund you at least two months rent for the work you did on the bathroom. Hats off to you!
Right! Lol
For the sake of your health you should have your home checked for mold spores. If the wall was getting that moldy the wall behind that tile is most likely black with mold. That repair should be your landlords responsibility.
That to s.oppy wark to ask for free rent
I'm in my mid 40s now, and it's interesting to see contact paper making a comeback for decorating and updating spaces. When I was a kid in the 80s, everyone thought it was magical! Folks were using it for everything, just short of making their kids wear it for clothes. :) I might have to pick some up to see how it's improved tech wise.
“Just short of making their kids wear it for clothes” 🤣🤣🤣. That is so true. Contact paper was everywhere in my house in the 80’s 😂😂😂😂.
Amazon has amazing contact paper
@Adam A. Agree...contact paper was it. Drawer liners, school notebooks, everything. Now maybe burlap for curtains and pillows..LIL
It was impossible to remove.
I believe in the inner circle of contact paper people we stayed in the now. Its a fav in our home. ❤💚💜💙💛
dayum rental? When you're gettin back your security deposit, they'll have to pay you more! That bathroom was left so beautiful
Amazing job! Very creative and stylish!!!
This is awesome and so helpful for those that rent. I don’t think I’ve found any other videos that actually offer real life- budget friendly solutions that actually make the place look better. New paint is great but it only goes so far. Your simple but well executed updates are not just pretty but super smart and great ideas for new and longtime renters and for those who don’t know where to start. I’m so glad I found this video and your channel.
Love that shelving unit as a way to store towels - gives it a definite "spa" feel!!
The mirror over toilet, vertical unit, lighting & white surroundings give the illusion of more space & cleanliness. The paper u chose 4 the cabinet grounded it all perfectly.
U killed it, My Sista!! ✌❤🙏
Yay 😁 thank you sis!
It’s so sad that owners of these buildings don’t do updates with their money . Thank you for making this video
A large chunk of the rent income goes to paying the morgage and then they have to keep money set aside for maintenance/repairs, they definitely aren’t making a killing till the morgage is paid for.
The profit also needs to be sufficient to make the extra hassle & risk worth it. It’s not easy street being a landlord. These are my observations having family members who own rentals, that’s probably their retirement plan so they have to play the long game. Unfortunately upgrades to the property are generally too expensive to make sense while the actual profit is quite low.
@@icantthinkofascreenname3064 if a landlord can't do landlord duties then they shouldn't be one.
I have some things that need to be done like fixing the mole around the tub I have been waiting years for the landlord to fix.
Thank you... I know I can now fix the mole problem around my tub no more waiting.
New subscriber.
Sad? She lives in an affordable apartment with an average bathroom and kitchen, if she wants luxury and upgrades she would have to pay a lot more in rent. She’s smart to make these low cost tweaks on her own because her rent stays the same. If her landlord made these upgrades you better believe her rent would go through the roof. Rental property is a business.
@@helmethair437 that means no matter what business you try to start...you shouldn’t because you don’t know the issues of a landlord until you become one
Wow, great job! That slim white shelving unit is EPIC! I'd like to share a tip - apply contact paper to your doors. I used a marble effect on mine and it looks chic. :)
Both sides? Or only on bathroom side? Thanks!
@@psb12121 I applied mine to the bathroom side.
Thank you! 🌝
Didn’t even think about that one. Great idea!! Thank you😀
Anchorage, Ak
Wow! This was so inspiring especially since I have downsized since losing my job due to Covid. Thank you so much for putting a spring back in my step with your ideas!
*Comes to channel to spruce my bathroom up *

Lol
Right!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOLOL! Like for real!
🤣
I’m a landlord. I’m watching to get ideas to update older bathrooms in my places. Great ideas. Love the vertical storage. Looks lovely now!
It’s great u want to keep ur units nice but these aren’t lasting fixes. These are for temporary tenants that have landlords that don’t do their job. NONE of the options are acceptable for a landlord to do.
I love this! ✨
@@modaciouslav4792 considering that it's impractical to spend a lot of money on upgrades for a tenant that will possibly destroy the apartment, incorporating some of these ideas is definitely acceptable for a landlord to incorporate.
@@modaciouslav4792 Those flooring tiles are long-lasting if you don't do the "renter modifications." Plus ideas on painting, adding shelving and mirrors can definitely be longer lasting and add appeal.
@@valerie5575 This is why you have landlord's insurance. And no, if you have a long term tenant implementing a shoddy upgrade that will last 2 seconds is NOT acceptable!
I’m blown away by your talent and patience, and the step by step on how u explained everything your literally such a queen! I just subscribed!
I'm watching in November 2023! The bathroom definitely has a spa look and feel to it. I would've never thought to place a mirror above the toilet and the shelf looks fantastic!
Great job! Changing the light bulbs seemed to take the grunge look away. I love the use the IKEA bookshelf! Since you are storing your makeup and brushes on it, make sure to put the lid down before flushing the toilet because of "toilet plume" which can contaminate them. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Ugh someone finally mentioned this!!!
Anyone laughing about the mask part? Filmed in 2019🤣
She didn't see 2020 coming!
What's funny about wearing a mask for using chemicals that can cause all types of problems!!!
Jay Cee Relax, she’s just pointing out the irony 😑
She was before her time
😂😂
These videos are a godsend I was literally so in the dumps over my new apartment but I now have a bit of hope!
When is the products list coming? 😭
Girl you did that!! I'm so proud of you making the best of what you have without having to pay someone and no one in the background telling you that you couldn't do it 💖💖💖
Thank you LUV!
This is cool but damn they should be paying you for fixing the shower.
Right!
I have the same issue with my bathtub. Yucky mold/mildew seeping through the seams due to no moisture barrier. Will try caulking.
The tape for the mirror frame was a great detail I added to my bathroom. It made it look more modern and I hung some plant garland above the mirror so now it's fancy and drapes down the sides. ❤ thanks for a simple upgrade tip. I love it.
Just wanted to say thanks, you shifted something in my mind which is that bad moldy bathrooms cant be fixed. I would never have known where to start let alone think I had the power to change it myself. That was a very needed mind shift thank you. Your hard work is appreciated 🙏
Girl, you are so inspiring! I'm about to rent a new apartment, and all the clean and modern ones are so expensive! Now I'm about to rent something cheaper and work on it, be creative and put my soul into it. Thank you! ❤️
Good for you girl. You will be a proud owner rather than a renter in the future.
Your energy to teach and explore different upgrades are so brave and independent. Thank you.
Thank you so much for making these videos! I just moved into the ugliest apartment of my life, and I didn't know where to start first. The entire apartment is gray, and I can feel my soul start to wither away from lookong at the walls. I cannot wait to get my hands on some of these products and get to work on improving my space.
OMG the mask! 😂😂 My best and favorite tip ever for anything caulking, any seams, cracks, holes is Flex Shot. $12.99. I have the exact same problem around my bathtub.
You LITERALLY just saved my life! I just moved into my very first home on July 11th and...it's a rental. I've been blessed to have a cool-ass landlord but maaannnn, this house does need a little boost to make it cozy for me, my man, and our two baby boys. And the main space we've been wracking our brains about IS the bathroom! Imma DEFINITELY show this to my man and see what we can do with our space. Thanks for the upload! Xoxoxo
Also, I didn't even realize you had RENTER-SPECIFIC videos! I appreciate you even MORE!
So grateful that it helps. Yes, I want everyone to have a space they love. It’s life changing.
@@Waynaworld Thank you! :)
These tips are so good for military housing that I live in right now!
Awesome 👏🏽
That pink-ish colored "mold" isn't really mold. It is actually a bacteria called Serratia marcescens. It is common in wet areas. One thing you can do is use 50/50 water and vinegar solution and it will work without all of the strong chemicals.
Love your videos!
Thank you for that information. 😁
thank you - so grateful that I'm now seeing this in 2024, this is so helpful!!
Wow, raising the bar for all of us, and doing it flawlessly 👑 girl you gave that bathroom an intervention WORK
This is AMAZING! You have got to be the BEST tenant anyone could ever have. I feel like you should have been able to get your landlord to correct the issue with the grout.
I covered my kitchen counters with the marble contact paper about 18 years ago in an apartment that I used to live in. I loved it... It lasted the 4 years I was there. Did no harm to the counters and came up easily when I left.
I'm so glad I found this video. I was at a loss with what I wanted to do with my small 1/2 bath!
Your bath looks great, thank you for the ideas!
Just brilliant! Tasteful. Clever, Stylish and doable at reasonable costs!!
Will definitely go for daylight bulbs in our bathroom without the window
The quickest upgrade ever!
Can't wait to do some of this stuff to my new apartment
Yay! Share your results with me.
Yes!!! I’m excited too!! Idk where to start. Lol
Girl you did an AMAZING job 👏🏻👏🏻 love the creativity, I would’ve never thought to use that ikea shelf in a bathroom and I love the idea! Thank you for all the tips I’ll definitely be using them ♥️
Thank you for this, cuz I was trying to find out where she got the Shelf in the bathroom from
@@hotdiva38 if I remember correctly it’s called the IKEA Lack shelf :)
Jaw dropping transformation. It looks amazing. I love the vertical shelves and the flooring.
She said just be grateful for the tile you have😂😂... she’s so funny💛
I admire how creative and handy you are :)
Thank you Mandi
That verticle shelf idea for the bathroom is genius. Thank you so much!!
My heart dropped. This is gorgeous!! Literally just started redoing my new rental today and this just gave me so much more motivation 🥰♥️😍
Wow, I almost was late to work, couldn't stop watching. What a beautiful transformation!
as a poor graduate student who is apartment hunting your videos are coming in so clutch. one of the things I hate about renting is the bathrooms! these tips can add so much space and light and make it feel not gross and groggy
So glad that you found value!
Wow! What a difference! The white brightens everything and I love that shelving unit🤩
Hello there, I'm viewing and commenting from Dallas and I have to tell you how much I truly appreciate thou making these renter friendly videos because I am one who lives in an apartment and it is my preference and I still want to make renter friendly upgrades so that I don't lose my deposit and that are super easy! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Please keep them coming.
It's very likely that I'll dorm in the next two years or so when I start university so this video was a godsend! I thought I was excited for school but it turns out I can't wait for the thrill of turning a super small and shared dorm room into an aesthetically pleasing and more productive space. Love your channel and much love from Jamaica!
Love how these are great ways to update or test looks on your home to in budget friendly ways!!! Thank you 😊
I could watch your videos all day. Love your work and your personality is so genuine. Thank you!
I’m so glad I came across this page! I am now in the process of moving and with the renting prices and the availability of homes being limited and scarce, my options lead to more older, plan-looking properties. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do temporarily but this is perfect and I feel so better going into this new transition.
Same, I’m about to move into a new apartment but my budget is limited and I’m pregnant so I really want to create a beautiful space for me and my little family , i know my apartment won’t be the newest most aesthetically pleasing home ever so I’m going to upgrade every little thing I can in my ugly little apartment and make it look amazing , all these videos give me the ideas and motivation i need to get it done even while pregnant and feeling crazy most of the time 🥲😩
This is amazing!! Thank you so much! Renting can feel so depressing and I can't wait to redo my bathroom now!
I literally bought that bathroom spray because of you and I’ve been waiting to come back to this video all day to say thank you!! Omg you’re so right about it being strong omg it worked so well!!
What spray 👀
You are so gifted at design! All of your ideas are so unique, yet totally doable. I'm extremely impressed! Wow!
Looks wonderful. I regrouted our kitchen floor and some in the bathroom and it makes a huge difference. Also swapping out old handles.
That is awesome!
I love it when YT creators have a shot of their current subscribers count while asking people to like it subscribe! You get to see how the channel has grown since the video came out
Thank you. I appreciate every subscriber!
If that mold keeps coming back when you clean it, you should try to put a Damp Rid container in your bathroom. That should eliminate a lot of the build up -- that mold means you have excess moisture in your bathroom after showers. You can replace the fan in your bathroom (if your fan is running loud, it needs to be replaced) but Damp Rid will work better. Depending on how fast you dump it out will tell you how much moisture build up you have in your bathroom. Also, try Wet and Forget Shower spray - it's very effective and very little odor. I use it to treat my shower and clean my shower liner and curtain all in one. Overnight everything gets cleaned and then I just rinse it clean. I hope your tile repair has changed the game for you too!
Thanks for the fan tip i didn't know loud fans needs to be replace. I don't turn on my light in bathroom because it's loud but now i am moving after 3 yrs. A little to late but thanks for that
@@illegallaws2268 I just learned it from my apt's maintenance man this year! It's a tip to keep for the future, definitely :)
train family to wipe down shower walls with towel when finish--amazing difference in holding down mold. To prevent soap scum throw out soap and switch to baby shampoo only.
YES!!! FINALLY…. Thank you 🙏🏻 Exactly what I’ve been looking for “Rental Friendly, Small Bathroom DIY” in RUclips over 6 MONTHS… Why do I see this now???
Thank you! 🙏🏻 You are gifted my dear 😊
Using the knitted shirt as macrame wall art was by far the most unique 🔥
I love the shelf. I'm moving to a new place with my son and boyfriend. We are going down to 1 bathroom. This helps me with storage ideas and another mirror would be good. Contact paper is genius for keeping baseboards looking clean and less work cleaning them. I'm tired of cleaning baseboards lol.
as extra help if some of the grout lines are still discolored clean it with that stuff then get a white grout marker...LOL love your mask!!
dilute latex paint some with water, brush on about 1 square foot, let partially dry a few minutes, wipe off tile. Easier and cheaper than grout pen
Love the vertical shelf in the bathroom. You can get a small steamer for cleaning grout, mold, etc. so you don’t have to inhale chemicals.
Wow, the only realistic video and BUDGET transformation I've seen. Thank you so much for this!!!! Hats off to you.
Beautiful job! The lights really upgraded the space. All of this is 😍
This was brilliant! I’m honestly so astonished how far she brought that space! Definitely gonna give some things a try 😁
Love what you did with the cabinet using contact paper! Great suggestions!
This is the first time that I watch one of your videos. I like how practical and creative you are. Thanks for the amazing video.
Absolutely stunning!!! Looks so fresh and clean like a whole new bathroom..great job!!!
OMG.... Me and my family are having to downsize for a while and discovering your channel has just encouraged me on being able to make the space fit us and feel homey. Love your channel. Currently binging. New lifetime subbie 😘💛
This was amazing. I'm a home owner but a single mom on a budget. This is perfect! Thanks for sharing!
It’s so much better and fresh love the vanity and the white hanging shelf. You’re awesome!!!!
I love everything you did. Where did you get that shelf that you moved into the bathroom? I need one of those!!
It's from Ikea hun, and it'spretty easyto put together. Hope that helps!
I love decorating it's soooo...fun. I also like looking at show homes.
It’s sooooo fun!
Very impressing!!! Love the spa feeling look! Great job! What an amazing transformation!❤️❤️❤️
I love this renovation soooo much! I am using several of these ideas in my bathroom because of you. I just wish Ikea would bring that shelf back in stock 😁
Gworl No you did not put some bra pads together. Hey gotta make do with what you have💀💀😂😂Anyways glad RUclips recommended you to me 💕💕
That's the orignal design of a mask. A woman design but an Asian man took the credit
Michelle Gomez oh wow didn’t know that. Great to know!
Yes, great mask Idea.
I have lung issues so can't use many of those products. I use bleach to get mold out more often. It's a pain but I wipe sides down after every shower, a squeegee helps.
gworl?

I don’t normally like RUclips videos but I sat here and watched this one through. You did your thing in that bathroom in a renter friendly way and you’ve inspired me to do the same
Your bathroom looks gorgeous! So well done❤️
This video was so helpful! Thank you for giving me realistic ways that I can actually do on my own.
This was truly worth watching. Lived up to its promise. I'm so excited to get started on my bathroom.
This was very impressive. Nice work! Remember to run the vent Dan for at LEAST 30 minutes after your shower too.
Thank you for the terrific ideas and insight.
I use Zep tile and grout and it works really well too. I just purchased my home in central Florida last year but all of your tips help me out.
Sweet! I’ll have to try it
@Em I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I can't even imagine what that must feel like. I'm so paranoid of fires. I keep thinking about getting an extinguisher installed. I also tell my sons to never leave the house with the dryer going. I'm happy the recovery was positive.
I used contact paper to frame my bathroom mirrors. I had some walnut wood grain leftover from doing the cabinets. Looks so good
Your upgrades give me so much life!! GRATITUDE for all of your amazing tips!🥰
If I was a landlord, I would not want someone to take down these upgrades if they left because this looks soooo much better than the place did originally!!
